Meeting Minutes - January 31, 2006

Guest Speaker - Our advisor, Dr. Asthagiri told us about an opportunity to participate in the 2006 National Student Design: an individual and team problem solving competition. See Dr. Asthagiri in CHE 427 or email him at aasthagiri@che.ufl.edu for more information.

Regionals - March 10-12-a great opportunity!

Special Career Fair-send resumes to JP if interested or bring to the next meeting on 2/7.
If you are going to regionals, early registration is due by this Friday 2/3. Checks can be made payable to University of Florida/AIChE and placed in the AIChE mailbox. Late registration is 2/21 and will cost $60.
Also, going to regionals gives you the chance to participate in the research paper competition for the chance to win $600! Project title and abstract needs to be submitted to JP by this Friday.

Become a National Member!! Go to www.aiche.org and start enjoying the many benefits of being a National member! (scholarship opportunities, getting $5 off printer dues, etc...)
Biery Room - should be opened within the next week.
Active Member status - required to fill out a member form, attend at least 2 meetings and participate in at least 4 events. You MUST be an active member to be an officer.
E-Fair - come help out with all the cool experiments the ChemE department is putting on! Contact Katie to get involved! Also, email her to participate in E-Bowl, a jeopardy-style competition among all the engineering societies.
End of the semester Professor Award Ceremony - contact JP to help out!
ChemE car competition - the car design will be finalized soon and ready to compete. The object of the competition is to design a car that can carry a specified amount of water exactly a given distance. Contact Mike Abrahamson or Keith Heyer to get involved.
Omega Chi Epsilon - a new ChemE honor society that many AIChE members are helping to start. You must be a junior or senior with a 3.6 or 3.4 GPA respectively. Contact Matt Greene to help out and be a founding member!
